Privacy & Bescherming, BE

If you want to live belgische tv kijken, there’s nothing that would stop you if you’re in your home country of Belgium. The subscriptions are usually cheap, the process is relatively plain and straightforward, and there merely a handful of laws and regulations that you don’t even need to worry about since the providers are obliged to.

However, if you intend to belgische tv kijken in buitenland, the situation is drastically different. Namely, as soon as you leave your country, so-called ‘geo block’ mechanisms spring. You will be put on a blacklist of sorts and the majority of your favorite shows will be unavailable to you.

If you love Salamander, Professor T, Code 37, The Break, Beau Sejour, or Witse, you’re pretty much down on luck if you don’t have a VPN subscription.

What is a VPN?

Essentially, the Virtual Private Network is a secure, private network that is radically more protected than a basic private network. All sorts of protective layers are put around as firewalls around your connection, ensuring that your browsing and your data is safe.

Of course, the same applies to your online privacy and identity. Hackers and other cybercriminals will not be able to get through to you, but one of the things that should interest you the most is the fact that you won’t be subjected to so-called black and white lists. Your favorite shows will not be denied to you, so you will be free to watch them as if you were home.

Why do Blacklists exist?

Due to copyright reasons, every country has its own blacklist. Basically, this is not as ominous as it sounds – a blacklist is essentially an automated list of accounts that are not allowed to view certain content.

One of the best examples is the Netflix Geo Block. You will be able to watch your favorite Belgian shows at home on your Netflix account, but as soon as you leave the country, a totally different catalog of shows will be ‘available to you’. Better said, a whole lot of shows will be denied to you.

Every single show is copyrighted and by default, licensed. This means that countries are allowed to host and emit these shows, but only within their own borders. Countries do not have the authority to emit their licensed shows outside their own realm without permission.

Such permissions cost an incredible amount of money, so some of them you’ll still be able to watch. However, a vast majority of them will be unavailable to you.

How can you watch live Belgian TV abroad?

One of the easiest ways to watch live Belgian TV while you’re abroad is by getting a VPN subscription. Virtual Private Networks will get rid of the obstacles made by blacklists and geo blocks, so the content that will be otherwise unavailable will be present to you as if you were home.

The vast majority of VPN services are ridiculously cheap, so there’s no reason why you shouldn’t give them a shot.
